What you need to do before you start your UK studies


We can't wait to welcome you to INTO! It's not long before you start a life-changing student experience.

Before you begin your UK adventure, there are a few things to make sure you have completed.

Pre-Departure Checklist.

Before you arrive, please complete this checklist to ensure you are prepared for your new life in the UK. You can also find this checklist in your Pre-Departure Guide.

You need to do these tasks before you leave:

  • Pay full fees for your tuition and insurance
  • Book your accommodation
  • Let us know when you’re arriving in the UK, and if you require an airport pickup
  • Check your passport is valid for at least six months from your course start date
  • Have you applied for and received your visa? If you have any questions about your application our visa support team can advise you
  • Organise the money you need to bring with you. Find out more in your Pre-Departure Guide
  • Check your airline’s luggage allowance and pack accordingly. Look out for our email with packing tips for your journey to the UK
  • Put the emergency telephone numbers into your mobile phone, you can find them in your Pre-Departure Guide

Important documents to pack

It is very important to make sure that you bring the right documents and certified copies with you to the UK. Keep these documents in your hand luggage as you will need them when you go through immigration at the airport, and to register for your course.

  • INTO offer letter
  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement
  • IELTS certificate or original English language test result
  • Passport and visa/identity card
  • Medical certificates (if required)
  • Bank statement that you used to obtain your Tier 4 visa to show the Immigration Officer on arrival at the airport in the UK
  • Any other original documents/transcripts listed in your offer letter/CAS statement which you need to register and enrol on your course, and to extend your visa in the UK. For example, your high school certificate or home university certificates including translations (if originals are not in English)
  • Immunisation History Book for medical registration
  • UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Visa Tuberculosis Screening Certificate (if required)
  • If you have a visa for a course longer than 6 months, please bring your UKVI decision letter detailing where to collect your BRP card

Once you have secured your place and booked your flights, you’re almost ready for UK study!

Next, you should send us your arrival details, and let us know if you’d like us to pick you up from the airport.

Even if you will be making your own way to INTO, we still need to know when you’re going to arrive in the UK.

Pay Your Fees.

You should pay your fees as soon as possible to secure your place to make sure you start your course on time.

You can pay your fees by bank transfer or by credit card. Please check your offer letter or confirmation pack for more details, or contact your education counsellor if you have any questions about the process. Don't forget to include your application ID in any contact with us for a response in two working days.
