UK travel

Getting here and beyond

We’ll help make your journey to the UK – and, beyond - as smooth as possible. And, help you visit home, too!

Travelling to the UK

You’ll find there are international airports right across the UK, with regular flights from Europe and beyond.

Larger UK airports welcome flights from a greater number of destinations. These airports include London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham International, Manchester International, Glasgow International and Belfast International.

When you arrive in a UK airport, you will need to enter the UK through Immigration. You will meet an Immigration Officer who will check your documents before you can collect your luggage and go to your INTO Centre.

If you would like, we can arrange an airport pick-up for you. We’ll meet you at the airport and bring to your INTO centre. Please note this has an additional cost and must be booked in advance using the Arrival Details form.

Travelling around the UK

Want to explore? The UK has a really comprehensive public transport system, which will make it easy for you to explore your new city and the UK.

Whichever city you choose to study in, you’ll find there are good local bus services, which are generally inexpensive and frequent. London and Glasgow also have underground rail services. In London, this is referred to as the tube or the underground. And, Manchester has a tram network. Walking and cycling are popular here and there are good foot and cycle paths. All of which mean you’ll have plenty of ways to get around.

Looking to explore further afield? The national rail network covers most of the UK and getting a train is easy. Make sure you buy tickets before getting on the train though. Sometimes it can be cheaper to fly. There are regional airports across the UK and internal flights can be inexpensive.

We’ll organise regular trips too, which are a great way to get to know the area and make new friends.
