You're a short walk from many dining options

Explore the city

Everything you need, everywhere you go

No matter where you go in the St. Louis area, you can find great places to shop. Malls like St. Louis Galleria and Brentwood Square have everything you need with dozens of stores. Go upscale at Plaza Frontenac, which offers department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. All are a short car or bus ride from campus.

Eating 0ut

A variety of foods for any budget

In addition to the dozens of culinary choices on SLU’s campus (including international cuisine at The Cafe, burgers and beers at the Billiken Club and a number of quick eating options), the surrounding area also offers a diverse dining scene. The city is known for good barbecue, and Bogart’s Smokehouse has some of the best. The Blues City Deli is known for some of the best sandwiches in town. And you have to get the toasted ravioli — a STL tradition — at any number of Italian restaurants in the area.

Great beauty and art

You don’t have to go far to find the best of St. Louis culture. The beautiful 1,371 acres of Forest Park — just a short trip from campus — house the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Art Museum, the St. Louis History Museum, the St. Louis Science Center, The Muny Amphitheatre and the Jewel Box greenhouse. SLU also hosts the Museum of Art (SLUMA) and Museum of Contemporary Religious Art (MOCRA). Powell Hall hosts the St. Louis Symphony while the Tivoli Theater has been showing movies and performances for nearly a century.

Weather and dress

What should I wear?

The St. Louis climate has four distinct seasons. Average temperature range from 3° C in January to 32° C in July. Most students at SLU dress casually. There is no official dress code. Due to weather changes, you will need clothing for both warm and cold seasons. All of these items are available for purchase in St. Louis upon arrival, so only pack what you need for the first few months after you arrive.
