Ghada's experiences in Manchester

Ghada Mudara from Bahrain is a student at INTO Manchester. We spoke with her and asked her about her experiences as an international student living and learning in the UK.

Why did you choose to study the Foundation programme at INTO Manchester?

INTO Manchester allowed me to learn about a range of subjects within Humanities which enabled me to broaden my knowledge and understanding of different things and the programme was not only limited to art. It helped me to progress and my understanding of the UK was strengthened and eased my settling in process.

Was it easy to meet new people?

Part of the experience of being abroad is meeting new people and INTO seemed to, and did, allow me to meet a different group of people from various nationalities and backgrounds – it was truly an international experience.

What kind of support did you receive while studying at INTO Manchester?

The staff were always cheerful and willing to help you with anything you are struggling with. There is someone to help you every step of the way. By being able to contact the lecturers, the university staff were able to get answers to my questions efficiently and in a timely manner.

What’s life as an Architecture student like?

Life as an architecture student is exciting. I can’t deny the fact that it is hectic, you spend long hours in studio, you do have all-nighters, you will panic as deadlines get closer. But with time, you get used to it. Architecture is a fun subject to study with freedom of expression which lets students work in a flexible, comfortable and fun environment.

Would you recommend INTO Manchester?

To anyone doing a foundation course, I would always recommend INTO Manchester. My experience was great due to the diversity of people, excellent quality of modules, and friendly and helpful staff. I also got great help in progression to university. It is truly an enjoyable experience.

How would you describe Manchester to a friend at home?

Manchester is a student city, costs are relatively cheaper than other places in the UK. So, this city focuses on a student’s convenience and affordability. In areas with high student concentration, there are many restaurants, pubs, stores, and pharmacies that target students and have everything a student may need.
