Food at Mason

A variety of healthly options you'll love

Near George Mason University, you'll find food that reminds you of home. In the multicultural metropolitan area of Washington, DC, you’ll find ethnic restaurants where you can enjoy a special dish from home and international grocery stores where you can buy some ingredients to prepare yourself. If you’re looking for something special, just ask us. We’ll be happy to help you figure out where to find your favorite ingredients.

You can often find a taste of home on Mason’s campus too. Our dining halls provide a great selection of global recipes. Choose from over 25 on-campus restaurants with plenty of vegetarian, halal, gluten-free and Kosher options.

If you live on campus, you'll have the Anytime Dining Plan. This meal plan allows you to enter any of the all-you-can-eat dining halls as many times as you wish each day. If you live off campus, you can choose to purchase a meal plan as well.

Healthy food options

We help you to make healthy food choices

Culture starts with great food

On the Mason campus, the dining halls cater to the diversity of the students, faculty and staff. You’ll enjoy the menus at Mason’s three dining halls: The Globe, Southside and Ike’s.

At the Globe, located in the Mason Global Center, you’ll taste traditional recipes from around the world. You can even submit your own recipes to the chef for the "Taste of Home" events! There’s always a special meal for important holidays such as Lunar New Year and Eid Al-Fitr. The Globe is the only dining hall on campus open every day of the year.

Southside features home-style American cuisine with a variety of nutritious options, including an allergen-free section and fresh smoothies as a healthful dessert. Open 24 hours a day, Southside is a favorite hang-out spot any time of day.

Ike's is your go-to for healthy eating and a community dining atmosphere. Thai and El Salvadorian Chefs will provide you with a unique culinary experience that includes Asian and Latin flair. This dining hall features lettuce and herbs grown on campus in the President's Park Greenhouse.

Starbucks coffee shop on campus

Have you ever seen a Starbucks that looked like this?

A "cup of joe" on the go

Get a coffee or snack any time of day on the Fairfax Campus. One of the two Starbucks coffee shops is open 24 hours a day. There are also two Peet’s Coffee shops, two Einstein Bros. Bagels and a Panera Bread, all of which open as early as 7:00 am. You’ll be ready for your first class.
