Undergraduate Transfer Program

If you’ve already completed college or university-level courses and want to transfer to George Mason University, our 1-Semester Undergraduate Transfer Program (UTP) is for you. You’ll receive an estimate of transferable credits toward your degree before you start your program.

Program Overview

Have you earned 30 credits or more from another accredited college or university? Our 1-Semester UTP provides a swift soft landing into your bachelor’s degree program at Mason. You will complete Mason required courses and receive additional academic, language and cultural support to help you excel in a US university. This program has two start dates available: Fall and Spring.

Program Benefits

Transfer of credits from your college or university-level classes to your Mason degree (maximum of 90 transfer credits can be applied toward degree)

  • Curriculum of Mason credit-bearing courses
  • Guaranteed progression to any Mason undergraduate program upon successful completion of your UTP
  • Academic advising throughout the program including progression and student success advisors

  • 120 credit hour program
  • 16 credit hours apply from UTP
  • Credits remaining to degree depends on transfer credits applied

Undergraduate Transfer Program

Entry Paths and Requirements

Undergraduate Entry Requirements 1-Semester
  • Minimum of 30 college/university credits
  • 2.5 cumulative college/university GPA (no grade below C in major-related subjects)
  • Engineering and Computer Science: Calculus required pre-requisite for all majors within Engineering School.
English Language:
    TOEFL iBT 80 (minimum 17 subscores) or
    IELTS 6.5 (6.0 subscores) or
    PTEA 53 or 
    Completion of Academic English Core or OC Level 5

*Portfolio and/or audition for CVPA majors
* Mathematics course of Calculus or higher for admission to the Volgenau School of Engineering including Computer Science and IT majors.

Undergraduate Transfer Program

What are the progression requirements?

Upon successful completion of an INTO Mason Undergraduate Transfer Program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at George Mason University. This transition from an INTO Mason Undergraduate Transfer Program to a university degree program is called progression. You must meet the following INTO Mason University Undergraduate Transfer Program progression criteria in order to progress to George Mason University:

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in the program
  • C or better in all courses
  • No grades of NC, W, or IN permitted

You are fully admitted to George Mason University provided successful completion of conditional admission criteria at the end of the Program and submission of all required admission credentials.
