Social space in the INTO GCU Study Centre

About the INTO GCU Study Centre

Where your learning begins

No matter what subject you're studying, most of your classes will be in the Centre. You'll find quiet areas for when you need to do some serious reading and dedicated spaces for group work.

Worried about finding your way around the campus? There’s no need to be. The Centre is right in the middle of campus, so you'll find everything at your fingertips.

Classrooms in the Centre

You’ll find the latest technology here, to make sure you have a great experience. Computers are built into the desks and connected to the interactive whiteboards, so it’s easy to get involved. You won't just be listening to lectures - you'll be learning through doing. Interacting with everything.

Need to study independently? Come to the Centre. You'll find quiet and comfortable spaces to study - and Wi-Fi to keep you connected.

Studying outside the classroom

Studying outside the classroom

From your first day, you'll have access to GCULearn; the University's virtual learning environment. From here, you'll be able to download lecture notes and other course content, as and when you need it. You'll also be able to take part in online discussions with your classmates and tutors.

You can also go to the Saltire Centre to study. This is the University’s main library, with study areas and ‘social zones’. You’ll find books, journals and language resources for your studies.

Forgotten your laptop? No problem, you can borrow one from the Saltire Centre. And, all areas have Wi-Fi, so you can work wherever you feel most comfortable.

Refuel at the café

Need to refuel? Head across to the University refectory for a coffee and a pastry. The refectory also serves lunches such as baked potatoes, salads, pasta and soup. When you want something a bit more filling, there’s always that British classic, fish and chips!

Have a special dietary need? No problem, vegetarian, kosher, halal and vegan options are available on campus.

Your safe haven

Inside the Centre, you’ll also find support staff dedicated to your welfare. Have a problem with your course, accommodation or something personal? They’ll do everything they can to solve it.

When you arrive, you’ll be given an emergency telephone number. You can use this to ask for help at any time of day or night. In your accommodation, you’ll find residential tutors. They’re also available 24/7 should you need help with anything.
