Students enjoying life in London

Student life

Making friends

Nervous about making new friends? Don’t worry, our active social programme helps you to explore London's cultural attractions and make new friends at the same time.  With the wide variety of activities on offer, there will always be something you’ll want to get involved in.

Recent activities have included:

  • London icons tour
  • trips to Windsor
  • a boat cruise to Greenwich
  • film nights
  • museum trips
  • coastal trips to Brighton
  • an international day
  • cooking classes
  • a London treasure hunt
  • a foodie adventure

The Centre organises regular sporting activities, such as football matches, basketball, snooker, foosball and table tennis tournaments. The student services team also organises regular parties to celebrate student diversity and encourage students to engage with each other; past events have included Easter, Halloween, Valentine’s ball, Eid Party, Christmas party, Chinese New Year and many others throughout the year.

We work to keep the cost of the social programme to a minimum. In-Centre social activities carry a booking fee of £1. All contributions go to our charity INTO Giving. Most visits across London require only minimal travel costs, using either tube or bus.

Throughout the year we also react to student demand and help to organise student-led events, which may require students to pay more, but these events are not core to the social programme.

"There are lots of social activities you can attend, like pool competitions, fashion shows, badminton and lots of other things. I’ve made lots of friend, we have so much fun together." Oluwatomide from Nigeria

What’s available on campus?

Have a craving for some beef bulgogi? Downstairs you’ll find a Japanese Canteen serving bento and donburi, noodles, bipimbap, fried rice, sashimi, maki rolls and of course sushi. You can grab a bite to eat for lunch with friends or even a late dinner as they’re open till 10 pm.

Fancy sharing a pizza? Next to the Japanese Canteen is Pizza Union. Superfast 12” Italian fire-baked thin and crispy pizzas. Don’t eat gluten? No problem, order the gluten-free dough.

Coffee with your new friends

You can grab a tea or coffee in the campus café but, if you’d prefer to get a bit of fresh air and venture out, there are plenty of coffee shops nearby.
