INTO Manchester city centre food

Food

"Where shall we eat today?"

When it comes to good meals out and cheap nights in, Manchester offers something for everyone. You'll be able to find the kind of food you're used to, and plenty of new things to sample, thanks to its diverse mix of cultures and people.

With over 300 restaurants to choose from, you're always guaranteed a new experience.

Missing food from home? Manchester has both the UK's second-largest Chinatown and Rusholme's 'Curry Mile' for a mouth-watering variety of South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

Supermarkets are located close to INTO halls of residence for quiet (and not so quiet!) nights in. Our staff will be happy to help you find ones likely to stock international ingredients.

Food from around the world – right on your doorstep

The INTO Study Centre is perfectly placed for you to enjoy local cafes, snack bars, and hot meals.

Starbucks is just a two-minute walk away, as are several independent coffee shops. Quick lunch options include the local supermarket, Mexican takeaway, and sushi.

Vegetarians and vegans will be well catered for. The 8th Day Cafe is 5 minutes' walk from the INTO Centre, and there's also a variety of restaurants such as 1847 in the city centre and Greens in Didsbury.

Nearby markets and supermarkets offer cheap, fresh produce from all over the world. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda all provide a cost-effective way to eat at home.

Local shops also cover any specialist dietary requirements – for example a halal butchers is located near to the Mansion House halls of residence.

Meet Viona Ng
 from Indonesia who:

  • 2012 - completed an International Year One with INTO Manchester
  • 2014 - graduated with BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance from the University of Liverpool with First Class Honours
  • 2015 - now studying a master’s in International Business Law at the University of Liverpool

Do you think INTO Manchester prepared you well for university?

Yes, certainly! The INTO Manchester International Diploma is a very intensive programme. There are only a few students in one class, so the teachers teach you in great detail.

Do you think your international qualification will give you an edge in the job market?

Yes, I think so, I got a First class, which is the highest classification you can achieve at university and the University of Liverpool is quite a good university. It’s one of the Russell Group universities. So it’ll help me later on! I also think Liverpool itself is a very good city to live and to study in.

Would you recommend INTO Manchester?

Yes, I would recommend INTO. INTO helped me to get to this stage so obviously I would recommend INTO. I am where I am today because of INTO Manchester!
