Meet Mohammed who studied the Extended International Foundation in Science and Engineering at INTO Manchester in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University.

Do you think you will feel more settled in Manchester for your foundation course due to arriving early?

Yes of course, arriving early to the place that you will stay is one of the most important things that every student should be concerned with. First of all, students need to know information before getting busy with school; know about the legal issues for living in Manchester such as registration with the police and get all the right information about living in the UK. Students get more details about how to get involved in good activities and it helps to have an idea about the environment that we will be surrounded by when studying.

How do you think your first term of English here is preparing you for your foundation?

INTO Manchester has very high quality teachers and learning materials which help students to improve in their language skills. I can already see how my English skills have developed as well as being introduced to new methods of learning, so I’m going to be well prepared for my foundation year. It's very useful to know a little bit of something before you start studying other subjects which use that language.

What are the benefits of studying for a term before your foundation?

INTO Manchester attracts many international students; it helps you to share your different cultures, knowledge and other experiences. All of these things are very important for a student during the time before their foundation course. It helps you to develop more relationships with other students. I believe that the term before studying the foundation gives you more insight into the INTO Manchester study culture.

Should all students study at INTO Manchester prior to their academic course?

Undertaking an English course will enhance their English skills but will also raise their awareness of the University’s expectations.
