What do you think the strongest feature of this University is?

I think MMU is the best university because the teachers have so much experience in their field and they teach you very well. Due to the support of my teachers, I’m standing here with a first. They are so helpful; whenever you go to them, whenever you contact them, they’re really happy to help out. They have a very strong background and practical experience as well as teaching experience. When you mix both together, you get the perfect outcome.

They also provide a mentor programme whereby if you have any problems in your first year you can go to senior students and ask for help. I joined this programme to help my juniors.

Is Manchester Metropolitan University strong for Accounting and Finance?

ACCA [a leading international accountancy body] are partners with Manchester Metropolitan University. When you graduate with this degree, you are exempt from nine of the ACCA papers. Once I complete a further five exams I can practice anywhere in the world.

Do you think your international qualification makes you stand out in the job market?

Big companies do not recognise every degree in the world, but the UK education system is accepted and recognised everywhere. You can get a job anywhere!

Would you recommend INTO to future students thinking of studying in the UK?

I thank INTO and MMU, both! I highly recommend INTO Manchester to fellow future students. It’s a great opportunity for you to come to INTO Manchester first; get some basic information and then go on to study at prestigious UK universities. If you go direct, you may struggle. INTO Manchester will help you.

What will I study?

You will study the following modules:

English for Academic Purposes and Study Skills

The module introduces reading techniques for academic study and the structure and function of academic writing. You will develop skills in writing in English clearly and appropriately, as well as the ability to take part in academic discussion.

The Study Skills element is an essential preparation for university life. It will help you to work in groups, present ideas, manage your time, conduct research, make lecture notes, organise the content of essays and understand how to evaluate your own work.

ICT (Information Communication Technologies)

This module will teach you how to use word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software, as well as using the internet, email and virtual learning environment (VLE) software in support of your learning.

You will choose three of the four following modules (please note that the choice of subjects will depend on the student's chosen degree programme):

Business and Management

This module examines key features of commerce, including models of management, the business environment and managing people and leadership.

Teaching is by lectures, seminars and tutorials with the use of case studies and project work and you will practise examination questions of various types covering a broad range of the syllabus.

Economics

This module explores microeconomics and macroeconomics and includes key terminology and important theoretical models and concepts used in both areas.

In this module, you will be looking at various real-world applications and developing your skills in essay writing and seminar presentations.

Mathematics

You will develop a methodical approach to problem-solving using mathematical techniques and theory.

Politics

The module is designed to help you develop a critical awareness of British politics, through knowledge and understanding of the different political institutions, the structures of authority and power within them and how they differ from other countries.

Academic guidance

You will receive advice and feedback during seminars and tutorials. Regular one-to-one meetings with your personal tutor will help you plan for future effective study, and answer any questions to ensure your academic success.

We also have an International Progression Manager who will help with your university application.

Assessment

Progress is monitored by continuous assessment of coursework and by the use of class tests. Assessment will be by:

  • coursework, including prepared assignments, unit tests, experimental reports, and computer use
  • mid-course and end-of-course examinations
  • formal assessment of levels and progress in English through NCUK's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme
