Graduate Pathway in Mechanical Engineering with Materials Science Emphasis

Do you want to study for a graduate degree in the United States but need to improve English language skills or test scores? What are the progression requirements?

After successfully completing the Pathway program and any additional requirements, you can enter an OSU graduate program. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression.

You must meet the following Oregon State University Pathway progression criteria in order to progress: 

PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS 1-Term Pathway 3-Term Pathway
Academic Requirements:
  • 3.0 GPA cumulative in all Pathway courses and
  • C (or Pass) or higher grades in all Pathway courses
  • 3.0 GPA cumulative for the last 90 quarter credits (60 semester credits) and
  • 3.0 GPA cumulative in all Pathway courses and
  • C (or Pass) or higher grades in all Pathway courses
Language Requirements:
  • B or higher grades in ALS 162 and WR 327 or
  • TOEFL iBT 91 (18 subscores) (PBT 575) or
  • IELTS 7.0
  • B or higher grades in all English language courses OR
  • TOEFL iBT 91 (18 subscores) (PBT 575) OR
  • IELTS 7.0
Standardized Test Requirements:
  • None
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) quantitative score of 158 or higher. There are no other GRE requirements.

The INTO OSU Graduate Pathway in Mechanical Engineering is designed to provide a route to the Oregon State University MEng degree program in Mechanical Engineering with Materials Science emphasis.
