    High school diploma with a 3.0 GPA (SAT not required)

    TOEFL iBT 80 (minimum 16 subscores) or  IELTS 6.5  or completion of Academic English Level 6 with C (or Pass) or higher grades in all classes or SATV (verbal/critical thinking): 500+ or ACTE (ACT English): 21+
    TOEFL iBT 60 or IELTS 5.5 or PTEA 44 or Password overall Level 6 or completion of Academic English Level 4 with C (or Pass) or higher grades in all classes

Undergraduate Pathway in Food Science and Technology

What are the progression requirements?

After successfully completing the 3-term Standard Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter a second year of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression. You must meet the following Oregon State University Pathway Progression criteria in order to progress:

  • 2.25 cumulative GPA in the Pathway program
  • No Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U) graded courses in OSU academic coursework
  • Grade of C- or better in English Composition (WR 121), Math (MTH 111 or higher) and Communication (COMM 111)
  • Minimum of 36 credits earned during Pathway program

What are my degree options after completing the INTO OSU Pathway?

This Pathway program leads to a bachelor of science in Food Science and Technology at Oregon State University.

How will an INTO OSU Pathway and an OSU degree program prepare me for success after my studies?

Food Science and Technology graduates will:

  • Be able to integrate chemical, biochemical, microbiological, engineering and sensory analysis principles to develop foods that are safe, nutritious and flavorful
  • Have the necessary mathematical, computer, statistical and critical thinking skills to: design experiments, collect and interpret data and predict the impact of raw material and processing changes on food safety and quality
  • Have sufficient understanding of packaging materials and products needed to: select appropriate packaging systems to meet a range of requirements, including quality preservation, convenience, solid waste minimization and consumer marketing
  • Know the federal regulations governing the manufacture and sale of food products
  • Be familiar with current issues in food science
