St George’s, University of London will help you develop valuable career skills throughout your programme.

It has been ranked 1st for graduate prospects (The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2015), and 100% of medical students were in work or further study within six months of graduation.

Voluntary employment will boost your career prospects, and offer you ways to make new connections while making a difference in the community.

You'll also have the opportunity to undertake casual paid employment within the university by becoming Student Ambassadors. This will help you gain valuable skills and stand out from the crowd.

The Careers Group and visiting lecturers

All St George's, University of London students can access support provided by The Careers Group. This includes job and internship opportunities, careers fairs and networking events, and help and advice to boost your employability potential.

A range of individual support is available to current students and recent graduates:

  • thinking about career options, including postgraduate study
  • preparing job applications, CVs and covering letters
  • succeeding in job interviews
  • identifying your transferable skills

You'll also benefit from lectures delivered by healthcare professionals who are all specialists in their fields. This will give you the chance to to fully explore a diverse range of career options to make an informed choice about your future.

Volunteering

The Student Union offers many opportunities for students interested in voluntary work.

You can learn first aid skills with St John Ambulance service; provide support for children with illnesses at the Teddy Bear Hospital; or fundraise for medical research charities.
