Study Abroad with English is a long-term course in which you start by studying academic English language and progress to study university undergraduate modules when the required English level is reached. The course can be customised according to different levels of English and specific academic interests.

This programme is suitable for undergraduate students who would like to spend time in the UK or US developing their English language skills.

Study Abroad with English is ideal if you wish to spend a year in the UK developing English skills, with the opportunity to gain university credit through academic study at the University of Gloucestershire.

What will I study?

Course outline

A variety of fascinating modules are available for study, ensuring students make the most of their time abroad. Students choosing academic modules must be available for the entire semester, including exams which may take place in June. The programme is split into two parts:

Part 1

You will study a full-time intensive course of academic English language and study skills for a minimum of one term, up to 20 hours per week, in order to reach the level required to study your selected undergraduate modules in Part 2. Part 1 will equip you with the language skills required for international communication and academic study.

Part 2

Select academic modules suitable for your level with the aid and advice of your tutor. You will study your academic modules the University of Gloucestershire alongside local and international students and continue to benefit from academic English classes to compliment your studies. Some subject areas to chose from are:

Accounting and Finance Architecture and Planning Business Computing Culture Creative Arts Economics Education Film and Media Studies

Geography History International Studies Law Management Marketing Music Science and Social Sciences Tourism

 

The selection of modules is subject to availability and depends on previous knowledge and English language levels.

 

How do I qualify?

Academic requirements:

Successful completion of at least one year of study at a university/college overseas. You should provide a statement of your previous university studies and a personal statement explaining which subject areas you would like to study during part 2 of the course.

Please note: Students selecting to study laboratory-based modules may be required to pay a higher fee for part 2 of the course.

Tuition does not include books, which are charged in the region of £60 per academic term (part 1).
