Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science

Do you want to study for a graduate degree in the United States but need to improve English language skills or test scores? A Pathway program provides academic, language and cultural support in order to succeed at a US university. Students are guaranteed progression to an undergraduate degree program through a curriculum consisting of credit-earning courses. We provide full integration with domestic and international students on campus from highly trained university instructors and tutors while giving you academic support throughout the program.

The Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science offers you the chance to enhance your English and academic ability. It will prepare you to successfully pursue graduate studies at University of South Florida.

*The Master of Science in Exercise Science is a two year program and cannot be completed in less than two years. Course offered every other fall semester. Students will be advised which course to take as a replacement if needed.

  • TOEFL 79+ or

  • Completion of Academic English Level 6

*If you meet all of these criteria,  you may apply directly to USF. If you do not meet these criteria, we encourage you to apply to our Pathway and English language programs.

Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science

What are the progression requirements to the university's graduate degree program?

After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression. You must meet the following University of South Florida Pathway Progression criteria in order to progress:

  • Minimum 3.25 GPA in Pathway 
  • At least one A grade in core graduate courses, and no grade lower than B
  • No Incomplete or Withdraw grades
  • No GRE required
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose

What are my degree options after completing the INTO Pathway?

You are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Exercise Science program at USF after successfully completing the Graduate Pathway in Exercise Science and meeting all progression requirements. Additionally, there are two concentrations available:

  • Strength and conditioning
  • Health and wellness

The master of science in exercise science program prepares exercise science professionals equipped to meet the increased intellectual and physical needs of adults to understand and participate in daily physical activity in order to obtain health benefits throughout life.
