Graduate Pathway in C&I: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

Do you want to study for a graduate degree in the United States but need to improve English language skills or test scores? A Pathway program provides academic, language and cultural support in order to succeed at a US university. Students are guaranteed progression to an undergraduate degree program through curriculum consisting of credit-earning courses. We provide full integration with domestic and international students on campus from highly trained university instructors and tutors while giving you academic support throughout the program.

The Graduate Pathway in TESOL offers you the chance to enhance your English and academic ability. It will prepare you to successfully pursue graduate studies at University of South Florida.

What are the progression requirements to the university's graduate degree program?

After successfully completing the Pathway program, you are guaranteed to enter your next semester of study. This transition to university from an INTO program is called progression. You must meet the following University of South Florida Pathway Progression criteria in order to progress:

  • Minimum 3.25 GPA in Pathway
  • At least one A grade in core graduate courses, and no grade lower than B
  • No Incomplete or Withdraw grades
  • No GRE required
  • Statement of goals
  • 2 letters of recommendation

You are guaranteed admission to the Master's in Education in Curriculum & Instruction - TESOL program at USF after successfully completing the Graduate Pathway in TESOL and meeting all progression requirements.

The Master's in Education in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in TESOL gives students who are professional educators and wish to pursue advanced study the opportunity to select an emphasis in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
