Graduate Pathway in Special Education

Do you want to study for a graduate degree in the United States but need to improve English language skills or test scores? A Pathway program provides academic, language and cultural support to succeed at a US university. Students are guaranteed progression to a graduate degree program through curriculum consisting of credit-earning courses. We provide full integration with domestic and international students on campus from highly trained university instructors and tutors while giving you academic support throughout the program.

Entry Requirements: Academic English Language Age
Direct Admission:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a 3.0 GPA
  • Applicants must have 1 year experience working in special education, human development, or psychology field.*
  • 3 letters of professional reference
  • GRE or GMAT scores for some degrees
  • TOELF iBT 80-93
  • IELTS 7.0-7.5
  • Completion of AE Level 6
  • 16 years and above
1-Semester Pathway:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a 2.75 GPA

2-Semester Pathway:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a 2.5 GPA

  • 16 years and above

*This could be teaching experience or experience working with adults or children with disabilities. A degree in education or special education that included student teaching or similar is also acceptable.

Graduate Pathway in Special Education

What are the progression requirements?

Upon successful completion of an INTO WSU Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Washington State University. This transition from an INTO WSU Pathway program to a university degree program is called progression. You must meet the following Washington State University Pathway progression criteria to progress:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • No "W" or "I" grade in a class
  • Grade of “C” or better in all classes

You are fully admitted to Washington State University provided successful completion of conditional admission criteria at the end of the Pathway and submission of all required admission credentials.

This program leads to a Master of Education in Special Education at Washington State University.
