Who will my teachers be at INTO GCU?

Many of your teachers at INTO Glasgow Caledonian University have international links, whether they have lived abroad or studied abroad themselves, so they can relate to how you’re feeling and understand the support you need. No matter what your English language and academic abilities are, your teachers will be patient and supportive while you get used to the new education system to make sure you achieve the best you can here.

To ensure you’re feeling confident about progressing to a degree at Glasgow Caledonian University, your teachers at INTO GCU will work hard to provide an unbeatable learning experience. This will include:

  • comfortable classrooms equipped with the latest learning technology
  • university-style approach to teaching subjects, including group discussions
  • small class sizes of no more than 17 students for English language teaching

Who should I go to for help?

At the start of your programme, you will be given a Personal Tutor who will give you advice and support whenever you need it, whether it’s an academic question or guidance about a personal issue. You will meet your Personal Tutor in your first week at the INTO Centre. They will:

  • meet with you for tutorials throughout the year
  • help you to settle into the academic community
  • communicate your academic progress and provide you with guidance
  • be available to meet during set office hours or by appointment
  • refer you to appropriate sources of academic or welfare support

Other academic support in the INTO Centre includes:

  • an Arabic Language Support Officer who is dedicated to providing language support to Arabic-speaking students
  • language advisers to help you with English
  • extra one-to-one and small group academic lessons
  • a weekly helpdesk session where you can ask questions and get academic support
  • online support
  • revision sessions
