Academic English

This course provides the fastest and most effective route towards reaching your required English language level. It's specially designed to meet your individual learning needs, with five tailored study levels to ensure you gain the language fluency and academic skills you need to succeed.

Course features

  • As a highly engaged and hard-working student, you can expect to make rapid progress of up to one IELTS point per term through this intensive course. INTO students completing a term of Academic English in December 2017 made on average 0.8 of an IELTS band progress.

You will:

Intensive preparation to help you improve your English language level in either 10 or 16 weeks. Each course is a minimum of 10 or 16 teaching weeks, which may spread over 11 or 17 calendar weeks to include induction and reading days.

How will I be assessed?

Throughout your studies your progress will be accurately monitored, using INTO’s English Language Assessment Test (IELA). IELA has been developed in partnership with Cambridge English – the world leader in the field of language assessment – and provides a standardised online assessment of all four core language skills. You will be formally tested using IELA both at the beginning and end of your studies.

If you attend all your classes, complete all of the exercises assigned to you by your teacher and make the most of the MyINTO digital learning platform, you can expect to progress by up to one IELTS band per term.

Once you’ve reached the language level required for your chosen course, and met any other requirements necessary, you can progress on to your INTO pathway programme.
