Online Pre-sessional English at Newcastle University

Online Pre-sessional English is an online course designed to improve your English language skills to the level required by your degree. The course is so successful that 99% of Pre-sessional English students who passed the programme in 2019 progressed to Newcastle University!

Flexible study plans if you can't travel overseas

We are accepting applications for all of our face-to-face courses for August/September 2020. If you are unable to travel to start one of our face-to-face courses, you have the opportunity to start your studies online and later transfer to study at your chosen campus when face-to-face teaching resumes.

How do I qualify?

English language requirements:

12 Weeks: From IELTS 5.5 overall (with a minimum of 5.0 in all sub-skills).*

8 Weeks: From IELTS 6.0 overall (with a minimum of 5.5 in all sub-skills).*

Age requirements: 17 years and above
Academic requirements:

Offer of a place at Newcastle University.

If you are not able to obtain the direct English language requirements for Newcastle University, Pre-sessional English has lower English language entry requirements, but still leads directly to your chosen degree in the autumn.

Class duration:

50% of learning hours will be delivered in real-time in our virtual classroom between 8:30am-1:00pm BST (excluding bank holidays).

50% will include pre-recorded lectures and interactive tasks, such as quizzes, group projects, presentations and writing practice.
