Student support at University of Stirling

Here to help you succeed

The Student services team will support you in every way during your studies. For renewing your visa and opening a bank account, to translation and settling into the local area, our experienced staff are here to help.

Language advisers are also on-hand to help students with a low level of English to communicate.

Orientation programme

During your first week we'll give you all the information you’ll need to help you settle into your new surroundings:

  • living in the UK (laws, culture, equality and diversity, currency, weather, shopping)
  • registering with the police
  • opening a bank account
  • registering with a doctor and dentist

Student Services will also organise social activities, including a tour of Stirling city centre, and a trip to Stirling castle.

On-going support from INTO

INTO's Student Services team are your first point of contact if you need any help during your time in the UK.

You'll also have a 24-hour helpline telephone number in the unlikely event that you urgently need to get in touch with us outside of office hours.

Support with your studies

The University provides:

  • Friendly library staff to help you find the books you need
  • Student mentors who can offer reassurance, practical information and advice
  • Free study skills workshops at the Learning Development Centre

INTO will:

  • Give you an academic tutor you can talk to
  • Help you adapt to the UK learning culture
  • Teach you how to write academically in English
  • Show you how to conduct research and presentations
  • Provide additional support for students with disabilities
