Pathway students orientation will take place from Monday, August 28, through Wednesday, August 30, 2023.Academic English students will have their orientation on Monday, September 11, 2023
It’s almost time to board a plane and start your new journey at Hofstra University! We have a lot of resources to help you along the way. This is a simple checklist to help you stay on track and prepare for your arrival. If you need help or get stuck on any of the checklist items, email us at INTOHofstra@hofstra.edu. Now that you have confirmed your place, complete these important steps!
After you confirm your offer, you will receive an email from an INTO Hofstra team member with your Student ID number. Once you have this, follow the instructions in the email to activate your Hofstra Portal.
We offer a variety of visa support services through PASS, our Pre-Arrival Student Success Program. If you are applying for an F-1 visa for the first time, we recommend you join a PASS webinar and then sign up for a 1:1 PASS session.
How can PASS help you?
Living on campus? If you are interested in living in campus housing, please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org. A deposit will be required.
Want to know your residence hall assignment? In order to get your housing assignment details, you need to submit your flight details through the arrivals portal (step 6 on this checklist). Your residence hall assignment will be sent to you in an email confirming your arrival prior to Orientation. On-campus housing check-in is scheduled for Friday, Aug 25, 2023.
Living off campus? Students are responsible for securing their own off-campus housing. For more information, please visit the Hofstra off-campus housing website.
Visit the Hofstra Student Health Services to read about required immunizations and COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters.
Log in to your Hofstra Portal, find the App Menu on the top right and select the Medicat App, then select Immunizations and upload your immunization records.
To attend Hofstra, you must have:
Proof of vaccination against or documented Immunity to Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
Proof of vaccination against, documented immunity to OR declination of Meningitis
All immunization records MUST be in English.
Submit your flight details on the arrivals portal So that we can support your arrival, we need your flight and arrival details. Please go to the arrivals portal to submit your flight details. Here you will also be able to indicate if you would like us to provide you with an airport transfer to campus. This is available to you at no cost. If you indicate that you need to be picked up, an INTO Hofstra team member will contact you to provide pick-up details.
Arriving early? If you are arriving early and would like to book a hotel, the following website is a list of recommended hotels close to the Hofstra campus.
You will receive an email from an INTO Hofstra team member with more information about how to log in and attend a webinar.
The math placement test will cover basic algebra and pre-calculus. You will receive details on the math placement test as part of your pre-arrival communication.

The English Language Placement Exam (ELP) will consist of oral and writing proficiency exams. An INTO Hofstra team member will reach out to you to schedule the ELP prior to your arrival. No preparation is necessary.
