Dr. John, Professor, School of Communication
“I love the way that Illinois State focuses on education of students, with a student-centered focus. I love teaching, and I especially enjoy working with international students. I always learn new things from them about the beautiful and complex world we live in.
I have two recommendations for international students. First, go visit your professor during office hours—they usually want to know you and help you! Also, get outside of the classroom. Join a club; get out and around; make friends with Americans or students from other cultures. That is the best way to really understand a culture.”

Dr. Klaus - Professor of Technology
Dr. Klaus, Professor of Technology
“I have worked with international students for many years and in many capacities. As an international student at one time myself, I believe and understand the challenges and aspirations international students may have. I started working for Illinois State University almost 20 years ago, and I am thrilled to be part of the ISU family. I feel that ISU has moved toward greater international activities, and I am proud to be part of these activities.
From my experience as an international student, I learned that it is so very important to learn and understand the local community - to be included in the activities in the community on-campus, but also off-campus. Learning the American way of life can be so valuable and enriching."

We are a place of serious study and hard work. We welcome students from all over the world. We will strive to educate you to be successful, mature, knowledgeable and competent actuarial professionals.
We are also a place where students are very important. Your dreams, your goals, your life, matter to us greatly. Come and study with us, to experience a uniquely supportive environment.”
