Master's International Direct

OSU's newest offering for international students, Master's International Direct combines the power of a Direct Entry I-20 with the customized support you'll benefit from as an international student while seeking your degree.

Master’s International Direct provides comprehensive support and services for your first term of the MEng in Computer Science, the MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering, MEng Industrial Engineering, MEng Environmental Engineering, MEng Chemical Engineering, MEng Bioengineering, MEng Civil Engineering, PSM Environmental Sciences and MS Business. From pre-arrival support to receiving additional help once on campus, the Master's International Direct provides a welcoming arrival in the US and immediate support while adjusting to university life abroad.

This program offers comprehensive support and academic services that lead to student success throughout the entire academic journey. Rest assured in knowing that our team of staff and faculty take the guesswork out of arriving safely in the US and getting settled into your graduate program. We are here to help you achieve your academic goals and offer support from the moment you apply through your first term on campus. Through Master's International Direct, you'll receive:

Access to the Learning Center:

As an MID student, you will have access to our Learning Center. This includes an Open Lab Tutoring and Appointment Tutoring service. You will also have access to a computer lab, and a library full of resources to help you improve your English skills.

Airport pickup upon arrival:

We provide a greeting service at the airport during peak arrival times before your program start date to ensure that you make your way to campus. Don’t worry, we will wait for you to land and take you to the university.

Comprehensive orientation:

It is an important step for your success and life on campus to get involved in orientation. We’ll provide you with all the tools you need for your studies at OSU. During the week, you will meet with academic advisors, take a tour of campus and meet with lots of other students and more.

Academic advising:

Our dedicated advisors will be there to guide you through your first term of study at OSU and help you with the transition of studying in the US.

In addition to meeting the academic entry requirements, your specific degree has additional qualifications.

Fees:

Tuition fee for the first term of Master's International Direct is $12,200. All prices are estimated from 2019-20 and are subject to change.

MEng Bioengineering

  • 3.0+ GPA
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • 2.0 GPA in 1 year of college-level math

MEng Chemical Engineering

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • Math through Differential Equations
  • Chemistry including General, Organic and Physical
  • 1 year of Physics
  • Completion of following courses with a 3.0 average: Fluid Mechanics; Thermodynamics; Heat and Mass Transfer; Chemical Reaction Engineering

MEng Civil Engineering (Starting Fall 2021)

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • Completion of 3 out of 5 of following courses with a grade equivalent to a 3.0 in each indivdiual course: Engineering Statistics; Engineering Dynamics; Strength of Materials; Structural Analysis; Steel or Concrete Design

MEng in Computer Science

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • 2.0 GPA in 1 year of college level Math
  • Complete 3/6 upper-division courses with a grade equivalent to a 3.0 in each individual course: Algorithm Design and Analysis; Computer Organization or Architecture; Operating; Automata Theory/Theory of Computation; Programming Language Fundamentals; Compilers

MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • 2.0 GPA in 1 year of Calculus
  • 2.0 GPA in 1 year of Physics
  • Complete 3/6 courses with a grade equivalent to a 3.0 in each individual course: AC/DC Circuits/Circuits Analysis; Signals and Systems; Electricity and Magnetism; Power*; Computer Engineering*; Materials and Devices*. *taken in 3rd or 4th year of UG study.

MEng Environmental Engineering

  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline
  • Math through Differential Equations
  • 1 year of Physics
  • 1 year of General Chemistry
  • Completion of 1 of 3 courses below with a 3.0 average: Introduction to Environmental Engineering; Water and Wastewater Treatment; Mass and Energy Balances

PSM Environmental Sciences Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline

MEng Industrial Engineering

  • Undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2.0 GPA in 1 year college level Math
  • Completion of all courses below with a 3.0 average: Programming Language Fundamentals; Statistics; Production Engineering/Production Management; Facilities Design/Facilities Planning

MS Business

  • Undergraduate degree in any discipline for winter, spring and summer start terms
  • Undergraduate degree in Business/Economics/STEM degree for fall start term
English language requirements:
