Integrated Master's Program

The Integrated Master's Program (IMP) is designed with international students like you in mind. If you meet the admissions requirements for graduate study yet want additional support, this program offers direct graduate admission and a Direct Entry I-20. It also provides you with support from the day you apply through the first semester on campus. Pre-arrival questions get answered. Travel concerns get addressed. Help with everything from homework to career guidance—at the ready for IMP students. Another advantage: receiving Direct Entry I-20 in applying to IMP.

The program is available for many of our most popular graduate degrees, with curriculum focused on both major coursework and building skills for success in graduate work. Three core classes build credit toward your degree, with a fourth class focused on graduate learning in the US, including research documentation techniques, presentation skills and how to navigate the US higher education system.

Program features

The Integrated Master's Program provides comprehensive academic and cultural support while studying at UAB. We take any concerns out of the application process and academic journey by providing pre-arrival outreach, airport pickup, dedicated orientation, academic and cultural advising, counseling, out-of-class activities, as well as use of all UAB and INTO UAB on-campus resources, classrooms and facilities. With IMP, you’ll receive access to:

Pre-arrival support and airport pickup:

Our staff are here to assist from the day you submit your application. Let us answer your questions and help you prepare for your degree program before you even arrive on campus. Ready to arrive in Birmingham? Our Student Services team is here to welcome you with pick-up from the airport, get you settled into housing on campus, choose a meal plan and guide you to your classes.

The Learning Resource Center:

Designated tutors provide academic help, with support ranging from conversational and written English practice to major-specific tutoring in any area of graduate study. Tutorial services are available free of charge and can be customized into group and individual sessions depending on learning style and preferences.

Academic and cultural support:

Personalized academic, language and cultural support means you won’t miss out on any aspect of the traditional college experience. When you’re not in class, come to us for guidance on anything academic—or for a fun activity with other international students. Workshops take learning to the next level, where you can put your English skills into practice with others. We’ll help you make a smooth and enjoyable transition into your program, with the entire INTO UAB team cheering you on.

GRE/GMAT waiver:

Upon successful completion of the IMP, you will be fully qualified to continue your graduate studies in the next semester without taking the GRE/GMAT exam. We'll even meet with you to choose classes and help you sign up. Let our academic advisors take the guesswork out of the academic process.
