What types of scholarship are available?

Regional Scholarship

This scholarship is available for the duration of the Pathway only.

  • Admission to program
  • Latest academic transcript
  • Evidence of English proficiency
  • 300-400 word personal statement may be required for some regions
  • Scholarship interview may be required for some regions
  • Amount subject to change - limited awards at maximum value

International Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, is available to students who enroll directly into a degree program without completing a Pathway program first.

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • First-year, full-time, degree-seeking students only (no post-secondary work).
  • Completed high school or secondary school outside of the US.
  • Currently live outside of the United States.
  • Must be accepted prior to May 1 for the August intake (November 1 for the January intake).
  • Students with governmental scholarships or other external support are ineligible for this award

IB Scholarship

This merit-based scholarship is available to students who enroll directly into a degree program without completing a Pathway program first. Requires an application by March 1

  • Fully admitted to UAB as a first-year undergraduate student before March 1.
  • Submit scholarship application by March 1.
  • IB Diploma with a score of 24 or higher.
  • Eligible candidates will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship that will be automatically upgraded to $2,500 after final IB scores are received

University Scholarships

UAB Continuing Success Scholarship

Maximum value



  • Admitted to a degree-seeking program at UAB after successfully completing International Year One and meeting all progression requirements
  • Student must matriculate to UAB the academic term immediately following International Year One completion
  • Students completing the International Year One at the end of Spring semester must matriculate by the Fall semester
  • Cumulative GPA (3.75 or above) must be achieved and maintained throughout International Year One
  • Awarded all 4 years if GPA stays 3.75 or above
  • Scholarship is split into $1,500 per semester for two semesters (Fall and Spring)

Merit Scholarships for US Based Direct Entry Students

  • This scholarship is offered on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Must submit admission application and all required documentation by May 1 of senior year in high school
  • Entering freshmen who have their admission documents postmarked by that date are automatically considered for ACT & GPA-based scholarships
  • Student's February ACT and March SAT scores from senior year will be the last scores considered for scholarhsip purposes
  • The examined GPA will be cumulative GPA at the time of admission

How much money is on offer?

The amount of money available through scholarships can vary. Remember that a scholarship will only cover some of your tuition fees. You will still have to fund your remaining tuition fees and your accommodation, insurance, visa and other living costs in full. For more information, see our fees and finance page.

What is the process of applying for a scholarship?

If you receive an offer letter after submitting your application to study with us, ask your education counselor whether there is a scholarship available. All scholarships are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
