Employability

Boost your employability

As well as being a great place to study, the University of East Anglia also helps to develop students' careers in the global employment marketplace.

Both INTO and UEA can also help you find voluntary or paid employment, depending on the permissions of your visa.

Visas permissions

Please note that permission to work in the UK varies depending on the type of international student visa. For more information, please visit our visas information page.

UEA careers services

CareerCentral, the University's careers and employability service, offers a range of professional advice and self-help resources.

Experienced careers advisers can give you information on careers related to your specific area of study. And training sessions can help develop your interview and other self-presentation techniques, alongside CV and application writing skills.

More than 250 careers events are held each year, giving you access to a range of local, national and international employers. UEA also runs a highly successful internship programme that offers paid experience in an industry that interests you.

CareerCentral also advertises a variety of part-time roles, work experience and volunteering opportunities. These include jobs on campus, such as in shops and cafes, and in the Student Union. Many of these roles include the opportunity to undertake training and gain qualifications.

INTO and volunteering

INTO UEA runs a volunteering scheme where you can help out with arrivals, run social events, and engage with other opportunities in the local community.

You can also work towards a UEA Award, which is given to those students who complete a certain number of volunteering hours over the course of the year.
