Illinois State frequently asked questions (FAQ)
If you received an offer letter to be in a Pathway program, it was determined that you have not met the competitive entry requirements for your degree program due to your GPA, prerequisite coursework requirement, language requirement or a combination of these factors. However, we believe that you have great potential to be successful at Illinois State University with the extra support provided by our Pathway programs. The Pathway program allows students to start their chosen degree program while receiving additional support and services such as tutoring, academic advising and classes that prepare international students to be successful in the American education system.
INTO is a university partnership program that provides students with the opportunity to study in the UK, US and Australia. The partnership between INTO and Illinois State University has helped hundreds of students succeed at Illinois State University over the past five years. Through this partnership, our university offers exceptional support services before, during and after your studies with us, so you can concentrate on your success. We also prepare international students to adapt to the educational, social and cultural norms of their host country while pursuing a degree.
Our International Year One (Pathway program) allows you to begin earning credits toward your degree even if you don’t meet the competitive entry requirements of our university. During the International Year One program, you will receive additional support and gain academic skills to succeed throughout your degree, while not adding any time to your degree program. Depending on your English language scores, you’ll enter International Year One through a customized program that lasts one or more semesters.
The courses completed during the Pathway program will count towards your four-year bachelor’s degree at Illinois State. You will be able to graduate at the same time as fellow freshmen. No time is lost! You will have access to specialized tutoring in many subjects designed to support your success. You will have personalized academic advising to ensure your success with your individual study plan.
