INTO Manchester Michinari Nakai from Japan

Michinari
from Japan

"INTO Manchester helped me very much. I was fully prepared for my master’s, and obtaining this has given me confidence and led me to where I am today."

Meet Michinari from Japan who:

  • completed the Pre-Master's programme with INTO Manchester
  • graduated with an MSc International Fashion Retailing from The University of Manchester
  • is now working as a Global and Japanese Sales Representative for 35 Summer Co. in Tokyo

How do you think you are different now from when you first started at INTO?

I am much more confident and ambitious about myself and my future. I came to INTO Manchester hoping to enrol to The University of Manchester. At that time, I was always worried about failing before trying my best. This environment totally changed my outlook; I started thinking that worrying about failing was a waste of my time. I gave all my best at INTO Manchester and the University and now I have a great degree, and know that anything is impossible.

What did INTO teach you to prepare you for university and beyond?

One of the best things whilst I was at INTO Manchester was the Research Methods module. This class showed me how university lectures would be and what I needed to do to prepare for them. Thanks to this, I had no problem when I started my course at university when other international students were struggling.

How does it feel to be in your job having graduated from university?

I feel that I am more competitive than other sales people having graduating from The University of Manchester. The reason is that I have more knowledge than them in the international fashion market, as I majored in the field at one of the best universities in the UK.

Are you proud of what you have achieved?

Yes, I am very proud of my degree and who I am now. Enrolling and graduating from The University of Manchester is not an easy thing to do but I have done them.
