It’s almost time to board a plane and start your new journey at the University of Alabama at Birmingham! We have a lot of resources to help you along the way. This is a simple checklist to help you stay on track and prepare for your arrival. If you need help or get stuck on any of the checklist items, email us at INTOUAB@UAB.edu. After you confirm your offer, you will receive an email from intouab@uab.edu with your unique university student ID, also known as your "B-Number". Once you have this number, go here for instructions on how to activate your BlazerID.
Apply for your F-1 visa right away. To start the process, you will need to use the Form I-20 that will be sent to you by intladmin@uab.edu

Living on campus? International Year One students (also known as Undergraduate Pathway) and Academic English students also applying for International Year One are required to live in on-campus housing during their first two semesters.
Integrated Master's Program students, Graduate Pathway students, Academic English students also applying for a Graduate Pathway Program, and Academic English students are eligible for, but not required to live in on-campus housing during their program. All students in an INTO UAB program who will be living on campus will reside in a double-occupancy residence hall.
You must pay your deposit to secure your housing assignment. You can do this through INTO PAY. Your unique payment link is on your offer letter, or you can go here.
In order to get your housing assignment details, you need to submit your flight details through the arrivals portal. Your residence hall assignment will be sent to you via email.
Living off campus? You can search for accommodations and the UAB Off-Campus Housing website. You will need your BlazerID to log in.
Visit the UAB Student Health Services website to read about required immunizations and other important health information.
Next, download and complete the required immunization form.
Finally, upload or submit this form online on BlazerNet. All immunization records MUST be in English.

Go to the INTO UAB Arrivals Portal to submit your flight details so that we can better support you during your arrival journey.
Complimentary airport transfer services from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth Airport (BMH) are available before New International Student Orientation (NISO). There are designated pick-up dates for each semester. The pick-up window for Fall 2024 is August 12 through August 20 via Uber vouchers. You must submit your arrival details at least 3 business days before your departure to receive airport pickup.
Arriving early? If you are arriving early and would like to book a hotel, please see the university's list of recommended hotels. We strongly encourage you to reserve a hotel within walking distance of the INTO UAB Center.

You will receive details on the ALEKS math placement test as part of your pre-arrival communication. It is highly recommended that you take the test prior to arrival. More information is available here.
