Pre-sessional English

This course will provide you with short and intensive preparation in academic English. It's suitable for you if you're already academically qualified and are due to start an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Newcastle University London in September.

Flexible study plans if you can't travel overseas

We are accepting applications for all of our face-to-face courses for August/September 2020. If you are unable to travel to start one of our face-to-face courses, you have the opportunity to start your studies online and later transfer to study at your chosen campus when face-to-face teaching resumes.

How do I qualify?

English language requirements:

From IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in three subskills including writing and no less than 5.0 in the remaining subskill).

Age requirements: 17 years and above
Academic requirements:

Offer of a place at Newcastle University.

Entry requirements additional information:

Postgraduate Degrees

  • 6 week course: IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other subskills.
  • 10 week course: IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in three subskills including writing and no less than 5.0 in the remaining subskill.

Undergraduate Degrees

  • 6 week course: IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and no less than 5.5 in all other subskills.
  • 10 week course: IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills.

Students with offers for the 6 or 10 week course may be eligible for a joint CAS, which allows them to apply for a visa to cover both the Pre-sessional course and subsequent degree. To be considered for this, students need to pay the Pre-sessional initial payment and any academic conditions on the offer from Newcastle University London need to have been met.
