Thinking without borders – research that makes an impact
UEA is part of the Norwich Research Park – one of Europe’s largest collaborative research sites that is the most cited outside of Cambridge, Oxford and London. Particularly focusing on health, food, development and the environment, this unique park researches everything from plant science, genetics and microbiology, to studying the links between food science, gut biology and human health and disease. The research conducted here will inform your studies so that you will graduate with an in-depth knowledge of your subject.
Ranked 10th in the UK for quality of research, with more than 82% of research rated as world leading or internationally excellent (Research Excellence Framework 2014), UEA believes that anything is possible when creative and forward-thinking people get together. The University has developed some ground-breaking research projects to try to solve complex global problems, including:
- searching in unusual places for new antibiotics (such as fungus-growing ants!)
- undersea robots that silently monitor our climate and reveal the ocean’s secrets
- a mobile phone game that can detect people at risk of Alzheimer’s disease
